What is Norinori?

Norinori is a Japanese logic puzzle played on a grid divided into regions. Your goal is to shade exactly two cells in every region while making sure every black cell belongs to a horizontal or vertical domino. A domino may stay inside one region or cross a region border, but separate dominoes cannot touch by an edge.

How to play Norinori

A valid Norinori solution must satisfy these rules:

• Every region contains exactly two black cells.
• Every black cell belongs to a 1×2 domino — two cells sharing a side.
• Dominoes cannot touch each other by a side. Diagonal contact is allowed.

Choose a Norinori puzzle size

A 4×4 grid is a useful place to start because all 16 cells fit into a small space. Larger grids add more regions, but they are not automatically harder.

• 4×4 Norinori — 16 cells divided into regions
• 6×6 Norinori — 36 cells divided into regions
• 8×8 Norinori — 64 cells divided into regions
• 10×10 Norinori — 100 cells divided into regions
• 12×12 Norinori — 144 cells divided into regions

Norinori solving tips

Count the region. If a region has two cells, both must be shaded. If it already has two black cells, the rest stay white. See the rules and controls.

Watch adjacency. A finished domino cannot share a side with another black cell. Use that to forbid cells next to a completed pair. Explore solving strategies.

Let a pair cross. A region’s two black cells do not have to form the same domino. One black cell can pair across the border with a neighboring region. How to Play.
